Friends of Haystack Rock
The Haystack Rock Awareness Program is an educational, stewardship, protection program at Haystack Rock. It was begun by volunteers in 1982 to show visitors the wonders of the “Rock” and the adjacent tidepools including the all of the nesting birds and abundant marine life. The City of Cannon Beach took over the program on request in 1985 and have been operating it since; hiring a coordinator and part-time staff to be on the beach at anticipated high visitor impact days and times. Volunteers are still an integral part of the HRAP program – both on the beach and behind the scenes.
The Friends of Haystack Rock is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation formed in 2003 to provide guidance and support, including fianancial, to HRAP. We can accept donations from the public.
